Wasted waste

What is waste? We see that after something has been used or past its primary function that its no longer useful. Actually, we ourselves declare that its waste, and do not continue to think about how we can use these materials in new positive ways, creating new environments for people to connect with each other. Here we show how we can use “waste” to actually give back to people, and by changing its primary function how we can continue to think about how we can give back. There are many examples of this concept. We start to see parks being built from waste and how children’s playparks are very nice example of how we can give back, and start to look at individual object’s properties in new ways.
This piece is made from entirely collect/found materials including 1000 plastic bags.
Absoption

Absoption is a process we have developed that is inspired by how industry and modern life are affecting our environment.

Discarded polystyrene does not biodegrade for hundreds of years and is resistant to photolysis, thus finding ways to recycle it would be helpful minimizing the damage caused by this material. By using raw materials and minimalistic approach by pouring gasoline onto the polystyrene we capture the idea of dissolving something solid, and by reversing the process we show how we need to think more about the effects of our modern life and how we can begin to give back to our environment.
Darksong

Darksong is about how agriculture, river life and society are being affected by water pollution. The problem is that oxygen is no longer able to freely be injected into the water, and how we must work and think of new solutions to solve this issue. Using a combination of black and white rice in a solid heavy form we have created an image that shows the ongoing problem and how industrial estates keep the pressure on supply and demand and less about the toxic waste that they are producing and its knock-on effects.
